The International Analog Forestry Network (IAFN) promotes analog forestry as a restoration tool for degraded landscapes and an income alternative for rural communities. Developing food forests and food gardens according to analog forestry systems contributes to biodiversity, environmental stability, and food sovereignty. IAFN offers training programs, demonstration sites, knowledge and seed exchange opportunities, and certification. The Forest Garden Product (FGP) certification and label gives added value to products grown in analog forest systems and improves market access. IAFN also supports participatory guarantee systems for local markets. The global network includes farmer groups, NGOs, enterprises, government entities, researchers, and academic institutions. IAFN is a member of IFOAM Organics International and the Global Alliance for Green and Gender Action (GAGGA).

Tri has worked with the Carbon Consulting Company to reduce its environmental footprint through solar power, rainwater harvesting, energy efficient systems, and careful monitoring of water and electricity consumption. They plant indigenous trees and bushes to increase flora and fauna diversity and have initiated a mangrove planting and shoreline protection program to tackle lakeshore erosion. Now, with the growing interest in authentic and sustainable products, handcrafted cement tiles are experiencing a revival. The production process requires minimal energy and water and because the colors are made from natural pigments and minerals and inlaid into the tile, the finished product is highly durable and resistant to wear and tear. îlot Colombo is committed to environmentally responsible and ethical practices, fair trade working conditions, and living wages. They aim to create quality employment opportunities for local women.

They contribute 10 percent of profits to support quadriplegic members who are unable to engage in the income generation activities. Disabilities Swashakthi Foundation engages in activities in rehabilitation hospitals and wards to encourage other people who are differently abled. They highlight and celebrate members’ capabilities.​

No Car Sunday is an initiative by the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) to encourage the use of alternative forms of transport and travel. One Sunday per month for a six hour period, the CMC is organizing a car free zone from Independence Square to Viharamahadevi Park. The roads will be open for families to walk, cycle, and enjoy food and entertainment. Socially and environmentally responsible stalls will be prioritized. The goal is to support a culture shift and promote zero emission transport options and healthy living.​
