Alive and Kicking is a not-for-profit social enterprise that produces and distributes ethical sports balls, creates employment opportunities for vulnerable groups, promotes the right to play, and raises health awareness through sport. Their production centers in Kenya, Zambia, and Ghana serve eastern, southern, and western Africa and employ people living with disability, people without formal work experience, and people who have not completed their education. The sports balls are made from upcycled and waste materials, including old car or airline seats. Offcuts from production are used in local construction. All profits from ball sales are reinvested back into the organization and the local community. Alive and Kicking works with local partners to donate sports balls to children and young people from communities facing disadvantage and to provide sports coaching and health education on topics like mental health, HIV, malaria, and COVID-19. They also support sports programs for young people living with disabilities and have produced a bell sports ball for the blind. Alive and Kicking sports balls are available for free or at reduced rates to customers and community organisations facing economic and social disadvantage.

Ulpotha is an agricultural community in the jungle heartland of Sri Lanka that offers guests world-class yoga and an opportunity to live quietly in harmony with nature. The focus has been on restoration, through practice, of traditional lifestyles, biodiverse organic farming, forest cover, and waterways. Opening Ulpotha to visitors allows the experience to be shared and generates some of the financial resources needed to sustain it. Ulpotha is located at the foot of the Galgiriyawa mountain with a traditional reservoir on one side and green paddy fields on the other. By design, there is no electricity and life is lived by the rhythm of the day. Paths and accommodation are lit by lamps and lanterns. Most of the vegetarian food served at Ulpotha comes from onsite organic gardens and rice paddies. The all-inclusive price includes accommodation, meals, snacks, and drinks, two yoga classes a day, massage, guided forest walks, and excursions to nearby archaeological sites. Ayurveda treatments are available. Ulpotha nurtures close ties with the surrounding communities. They offer a free Ayurveda clinic that treats approximately 150 patients per week and they have provided support to local temples, shrines, schools, hospitals, village-level charities, and other initiatives.

The community has developed the ScienZ method, which stands for Scientific Investigation of the Essential Nature from the point of Zero. By investigating and clarifying the essential nature of different topics, they aim to move beyond fictions that humans have created, such as borders, rules, and money, and design and realize a better way of human living. The ScienZ Institute studies essential human nature, the ScienZ School helps people grow as individuals and make full use of their own abilities, and the As One Network Suzuka Community is an experimental urban ecovillage where people practice a different way of living. Community initiatives include farming activities on abandoned land, a popular lunchbox delivery service with local produce from the farms, reforestation of the Satoyama woodland, study tours, and educational programs. As One Network hosts visitors from around the world and has exchange programs in Korea, Brazil, and Switzerland. They are part of the Global Ecovillage Network, Gaia Education, Local Futures, and the Transition Town movement.

Evidence shows that having a job helps break the cycle of re-offending, which is good for the women, their families, their communities, and society. Grace Chocolates prioritizes quality natural ingredients and offers vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and nut-free options. Custom tags and packaging are available for wedding favors and events. Grace Chocolates is an initiative of Positive Changes, a registered Community Interest Company in Scotland. A team of volunteers helps pack and sell chocolates, assists with office tasks, and supports the women on their journey towards a different life. The program builds athleticism into daily routines and is a way for women to have fun together in a safe, equitable space while preserving the boundaries of culture. Girls Make Waves is connected to nonprofits and surf-related initiatives around the world and has projects in Sri Lanka, Hawaii, and Mauritius. In 2018, the Arugam Bay Girls Surf Club became the first female surf club registered through the Surfing Federation of Sri Lanka.

As part of their zero waste philosophy, patterns are carefully laid out to minimize fabric waste and any remaining scrap material is used for pockets, lanyards, and cushion stuffing. Customers are encouraged to return preloved TreeKid garments for repairs if needed. When a garment no longer fits a child, it can be returned to the TreeKid workshop for a discount on a future purchase and will be stocked in TreeKid’s online secondhand store at a reduced price. For the adjustable overalls line, TreeKid partners with Social Studio, a social enterprise that provides support and training for asylum seekers and immigrants in Australia.

Save Pages to Save Trees conducts workshops for voluntary service organizations that want to get involved, for example, Rotaract clubs, girl guides, scouts, and community organizations. They offer vegetable and fruit juices, iced tea, king coconut water, relishes and spreads, baking mixes, soups, and infused oils with no added colors, flavors, or preservatives. Glass bottles and other recyclable packaging materials are prioritized. Bellybees provides livelihood opportunities for women and has a fully female workforce. They supply food products and books to underprivileged children and donate to support early childhood education.
