Participatory Guarantee System Organic Council (PGSOC) was started in 2006 to strengthen the organic movement in India and establish a common guarantee system for grassroots organizations and farmer groups involved in organic crop production, distribution, and local consumer markets. They maintain a community-owned and trust-based organic verification system that improves market access for small-scale and marginalized farmers, contributes to food security and sustainable livelihoods, promotes agroecological practices and environmental conservation, and enables domestic consumers to access safe, healthy, and affordable organic food.
