Good Market Sri Lanka is a People and Planet First global partner. We recognize local Supporters, and we help Good Market community members become People and Planet First Verified.
People and Planet First verification is for social enterprises that meet 5 standards:
1. Purpose: Exists to solve a social or environmental problem
2. Operations: Prioritizes purpose, people, and planet over profit in operational decisions
3. Revenue: Has a self-sustaining revenue model
4. Use of Surplus: Reinvests the majority of any surplus towards its purpose
5. Structure: Chooses legal structures and financing that protect and lock in purpose long term
People and Planet First verified social enterprises unlock social and environmental solutions that are not possible within grant-dependent nonprofit structures or within profit-maximising business structures.
The People and Planet First global verification uses the Good Market digital commons to keep costs low and maximize benefits to applicants. The verification process has 3 steps. If you are already Good Market Approved, you can go directly to Step 2.

Choosing to support People and Planet First verified enterprises has direct social and environmental benefits, enables innovation, and accelerates the transition to an economy that puts people and the planet first.
Supporters include local independent businesses, nonprofits, foundations, corporations, government bodies, universities, international agencies, and other institutions that offer free or discounted services to verified enterprises, make purchasing commitments, or provide ecosystem funding to develop local initiatives.
