Dragonfly Thrift Boutique

Dragonfly Thrift Boutique empowers women impacted by the justice system by providing the tools, community support, and work opportunities needed to reintegrate into society. They resell donated secondhand clothing, shoes, accessories, and housewares online and through their store in South Miami. All proceeds directly support reintegration programs such as in-prison education, employability and life skills training, post-prison work and housing, and trauma-informed substance abuse programs. The LEAP House is located within walking distance of the Dragonfly and provides a safe sanctuary for graduates, so that on the day they leave prison, they have housing, employment, and community. Dragonfly Thrift Boutique reduces waste by recirculating resources within the community. Products that can’t be sold in the boutique are re-donated goods to not-for-profits that help the homeless and underprivileged. Dragonfly Thrift Boutique is a part of the Ladies Empowerment & Action Program (LEAP), a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. They reinvest all surplus towards their mission.

Cooperativa de Trabajo + Ambiente conducts demonstration and training programs to raise environmental awareness and donates trash bins to local civil organizations. ProudBreast designs and produces breast prostheses in the Netherlands and connects and empowers women who have lost breasts due to breast cancer. Their lightweight prostheses are made from breathable foam with a locally sewn cotton fabric cover and can be used in regular lingerie or mastectomy bras. Products are shipped in plastic-free packaging and delivered through a bicycle courier service. Remnants are reused or recycled, and a refurbishment program is under development. ProudBreast uses their proceeds to publish a breast cancer aftercare magazine, organize events, and maintain a community where women can connect, share tips, and inspire and support each other. Their active network of volunteers engages in outreach, provides home fittings, and participates in photoshoots.
